Panel for Educational Policy
The Panel for Educational Policy (PEP) consists of 15 appointed members and the Chancellor. Each borough president appoints one member, CEC Presidents elect one member, and the mayor appoints the remaining nine members. The Chancellor serves as an ex-officio non-voting member. The PEP is responsible for electing a chairperson from among the voting members.
Applicants interested in serving as a PEP Parent Member can obtain a PEP Parent Member Application from FACE and submit a completed application to FACE by April 30, 2022.

Timeline
- The election will take place in May 2022, for a term that will begin on July 1, 2022 and end on June 30, 2024.
- The Nominating Committee must be formed by March 31, 2022.
- The application period for parents interested in serving as the PEP Parent Member will remain open until April 30, 2022.
- The Nominating Committee will select at least 3 finalists by May 15, 2022.
- Voting by the CEC Presidents will take place in the last week of May.
- Runoff elections will take place in the event no candidate receives at least 50% of the votes cast.
Application Process for Candidates
- Any parent of a student in grades pre-K through 12 in a non-charter public school in New York City is eligible to apply for the position of PEP Parent Member.
- Candidates will obtain a PEP Parent Member Application from FACE and submit a completed application to FACE by April 30, 2022.
- FACE will verify the eligibility of each applicant and will forward the verified applications to the Nominating Committee on or before May 1, 2022.
- FACE shall have no input in the selection of candidates beyond verifying their eligibility to serve.
- Eligibility is determined based on the status of the applicant on the closing date of the application period (April 30, 2022). Once elected, the PEP Parent Member will be allowed to serve out the 2-year term even if the child no longer attends an NYC public school.
